Case Study · Gunmaya

From Technical Recovery to Accelerating Search Visibility Across a Korean Marketplace.

Gunmaya's SEO problem was not a lack of pages. It was the need to stabilise a marketplace with live inventory, area and theme taxonomies, shop-detail URLs, search filters and emerging editorial content without destroying existing search signals.

Evidence Digest

The strongest proof, before the methodology.

Gunmaya is presented as a recovery-and-growth case rather than a simple traffic story. Existing ranking URLs were protected first, marketplace taxonomy and indexability were corrected, and only then was the guide layer expanded. The latest GSC curve shows the payoff arriving after that foundation was stabilised.

Commercial theme pages retain transactional keyword ownership; guides own definitions, comparisons and educational intent. That separation is central to the recovery strategy.

GUIDES

Commercial vs Informational Intent Separated

The programme deliberately avoided mass URL creation and mass metadata rewrites. New search surfaces were gated by actual inventory, current rankings and intent fit.

Starting Point

The Priority Was to Stabilise Search Architecture Before Scaling Content.

Gunmaya already had live area, theme and shop-detail URLs with organic visibility. That made aggressive URL replacement or mass metadata rewrites more dangerous than helpful.

The recovery work identified indexability mismatches, host and legacy-URL consolidation needs, duplicated inventory-count logic, thin zero-inventory routes, title-template issues and unclear ownership between commercial marketplace pages and future editorial guides.

Recovery Strategy

Protect Existing Signals, Correct the Taxonomy and Gate Expansion by Real Inventory.

The programme used strict change control so that pages with existing visibility were optimised in place rather than casually migrated.

  • 01Preserve current area, theme and shop-detail slugs where Google already had signals.
  • 02Keep the www host canonical and consolidate alternate and legacy URLs.
  • 03Correct index/noindex and sitemap rules on high-priority pages.
  • 04Tie marketplace counts to distinct shop IDs rather than duplicated category joins.
  • 05Separate commercial theme ownership from informational guide ownership.
  • 06Require real inventory and intent fit before creating locality × theme SEO routes.
  • 07Fix scalable title, heading and shop-detail templates instead of manually patching every page.

Content System

Guides Added New Search Entry Points Without Replacing Commercial Pages.

Theme pages continued to own commercial discovery terms, while guides were assigned definitions, differences and educational questions such as Swedish massage meaning, one-person shop terminology and Lomi Lomi course explanations.

The latest GSC Insights view showed new guide URLs already producing clicks, including 18 clicks for the Swedish-massage meaning guide and 17 clicks for the one-person-shop meaning guide.

Outcome

The Recovery Phase Is Now Producing a Clear Organic Acceleration Pattern.

The latest 28-day Search Console view recorded 274 clicks, 4.11K impressions, 6.7% CTR and a 14.3 average position. GSC Insights reported clicks up 81% and impressions up 144%.

Across the latest three-month view, Gunmaya generated 664 clicks and 7.28K impressions. The most recent 28 days account for roughly 41% of those clicks and 56% of those impressions, showing that the latest period is contributing disproportionately to the wider three-month total.

GA4 recorded 1K Organic Search sessions over the latest 90-day view, up 149%, alongside 1.1K active users, 2.7K total sessions and 25K events. South Korea remained the dominant audience with 864 active users.
